West Brom's Saido Berahino Put on Special Diet and Training Regime After Weight Gain

West Brom striker Saido Berahino has been put on a special diet and training schedule after it was revealed he is overweight, according to theTelegraph.

Having once been seen as one of the Premier League's most promising strikers and being named in England's senior squad, Berahino has been in and out of West Brom's starting eleven since his botched move to Tottenham, and his Baggies career has now hit embarrassing lows.

Berahino reportedly turned up to training 8lbs overweight after tests before the international break and was subsequently left out of the squad for the game against Tottenham at the weekend.

The former England U21 star has reportedly accepted the personal fitness schedule ahead of next weekends game against Liverpool, and will be continually monitored by West Brom staff members.

Having attacked formerWest Brom chairman Jeremy Peace after not being allowed to join Tottenham, this latest off the field debacle will no doubt harm Berahino's prospects of finding a new club in the future.

The 23-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and although West Brom are hoping to tie him down with another contract, it looks likely Berahino will be moving on at the end of the season.

Berahino has made four appearances in the Premier League so far this season but is yet to register a goal or an assist.

He also figured in West Brom's EFL Cup defeat against Northampton, where he missed a penalty as the Baggies crashed out to the League One sideon penalties.
