West Ham Set to Offer Top Scorer Michail Antonio a Huge New Contract After Chelsea Interest

Versatile West Ham midfielder Michail Antonio looks set to be offered a new deal at the club with Slaven Bilic desperate to keep his prized asset, according to theDaily Mail.

Chelsea are said to be one of a number of sides watching the 26-year-old, however, the Hammers are key to tie down their star man after the Dimitri Payet fiasco in January.

The proposed deal would see his current £35,000-a-week deal doubled to £70,000-a-week, making him one of the highest-paid players at the club despite only making the move from Nottingham Forest in 2015.

Antonio has enjoyed a stellar campaign, scoring nine goals in all competitions and helping the east London club fight back from a difficult start to life at the London Stadium.

Club officials are said to be hugely impressed by his ability to adapt to a makeshift centre-forward role in light of Andy Carroll's continued absence.

The striking role has been of huge concern to the Hammers this season with the big Geordie forward seemingly unable to string a prolonged run of games together.

Antonio has had to deputise in the role, as well as at right-back in the earlier stages of the campaign, and has performed superbly.

Sadly, the Hammers star will play no part in Monday night's fixture against Chelsea after picking up two bookings in the 1-1 draw with Watford.

It was Antonio's shot which cannoned off the post only to be tapped in by substitute Andre Ayew to secure a deserved point, but the former Forest winger will have to watch from the bench as his colleagues take on the league leaders.
