Whoops! Liverpool Torn to Shreds After Posting Poorly Timed Twitter Competition

Published on: 08 February 2017

Twitter has become a staple tool for Premier League clubs in the modern day, however, the social media medium is hugely susceptible to trolls and Liverpool have found this fact out the hard way yet again.

The Reds have recently indulged in a commercial tie-in with Matt Damon's latest blockbuster movie, The Great Wall, and asked fans to share their images of the movies poster with Jurgen Klopp's men added into it.

Some of the results from fans were pretty impressive but the club's official account made a pretty crucial error when they made a post urging yet more entries.

We're enjoying these #TheGreatReds submissions - you have until Friday to get yours in, Reds...

So as you can see, the club who have won just once in 2017 are almost attempting to brag about their current forward line - a mistake you simply do not make on the internet.

Of course, the masses quickly picked up on this heinous error and replied with force. The person operating Liverpool's official account must have felt like handing in his notice as the messages flooded in.

@LFC @ericghoz "the great reds" haven't won a game in 2017 lads

@LFC @ericghoz is this a parody account

@LFC Remove this tweet. Andy Carroll has more goals in his last 4 games than this entire "Great Wall" in 5 games. Wake up!

Also, another nail pushed firmly into the club's social media coffin came courtesy of one word, wall. That is because of Liverpool's dire attempt of a wall for David Luiz's free kick in the 1-1 draw at Anfield and, of course, the messages came in.

It is a harsh technological world we live in, it really is.When your club is in a rut, just take a second to think that any message inspiring hope or inspiration will be brutally put down, what a world.
