Wilder likes to get settled

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder says he would like to get his squad settled as soon as possible, but will not rush to complete deals which may not be right for the club.

Having guided the Blades back to the Premier League, Wilder faces the task of trying to bolster his squad for the challenge of competing in the top-flight.

We cannot rush through things and we have to make sure we get it right.

However, he is determined to stick with the methods which have worked in recent times, with the Blades having secured two promotions in three seasons to claim a Premier League spot for the first time since 2007.

Wilder told the Sheffield Star: "I have always wanted to do things pretty quickly, to get them settled in the group and get them to know (everyone).

"We have never been late buyers or put the group together at the last minute, because we want to work on certain things, which has shown in the way we have gone about our work in the last three years.

"Supporters and everyone want to see signings coming in, but we cannot rush through things and we have to make sure we get it right."

Five first-team players were allowed to leave Bramall Lane at the end of last season, while Wilder has yet to make any new signings this summer.

However, he may be boosted in his efforts by the completion a major sponsorship deal for the South Yorkshire club, who gained automatic promotion alongside Championship winners Norwich City.

The Blades are 4/6 to be relegated next season, with the Canaries priced at 10/11 and play-off winners Aston Villa 9/4.
