Winger Solomon Asante shortlisted for Player-Of-The-Month award

Former TP Mazembe player Soloman Asante has been shortlisted for the end of August award.

The right-footed winger has scored six goals with eight assists in the regular season of the USL Championship this campaign for Phoenix Rising FC.

On Thursday, the USL Championship named the five finalists for the August USL Championship Player of the Month award, with the best players from the last month of competition in the league chosen for the vote.

Voting in the Championship Player of the Month Award will be conducted by the following three voting bodies:

A fan vote on USLChampionship.com will comprise 51 percent of the poll. The fan vote will run through Monday, September 7 at 12 p.m. ET.

Meanwhile, the USL Technical Committee’s ballots comprise 25 percent of the poll.

On the other hand, the USL National Media Panel’s ballots comprise 24 percent of the poll. The award winner and complete voting results will be announced on Thursday, September 10.

Below are the names of the nominees:

Junior Flemmings, Phoenix Rising FC – Flemmings recorded seven goals in six games, averaging a goal every 70.7 minutes, while also recording eight chances created and completing 21 of 34 dribbles.

Neco Brett, Birmingham Legion FC – Brett scored six goals at an average of a goal every 84 minutes and notched two assists while recording 11 chances created for the month.

Solomon Asante, Phoenix Rising FC – Asante recorded three goals and five assists to move into the league-lead for assists and recorded 18 chances created overall in six games.

Billy Forbes, Austin Bold FC – Forbes scored six goals in seven games to help Bold FC move into the playoff positions while also recording six chances created for the side.

Amando Moreno, New Mexico United – Moreno recorded four goals and two assists in six games for New Mexico as the side continued to push toward the playoffs over its elongated road trip this season.
