Winning is the most important thing at a club like Asante Kotoko – Prosper Ogum

Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko broke their seven-game winless streak with controversial 1-0 victory over league leaders FC Samartex.

The struggling Kumasi-based side has moved 5 points ahead of the relegation zone after the win, despite increasing pressure on the club’s technical team.

Prior to defeating Samartex, Kotoko had experienced six losses and only one draw in their previous seven games.

Prosper Nartey Ogum, the Head Coach of Kotoko, who received a vote of confidence from the club's management during the week, stressed the importance of getting back to winning ways.

“Once you win, you’re okay. It’s now about keeping the focus,” he stated.

“The game is about results, especially when you’re coaching a team like Asante Kotoko. It doesn’t matter how well you play. Even if you don’t play well and win, it’s okay,” he added.

Asante Kotoko is now gearing up to face defending champions Medeama in their next Ghana Premier League fixture, as they aim to continue their momentum following the crucial victory over Samartex.
