Wolverhampton Wanderers Revolution Continues With Club Set to Sign Veteran Benfica Defender Luisao

Wolverhampton Wanderers look set to capture seasoned Benfica centre-back Luisao on atwo-yeardeal following his13-year spell in Portugal, according to theMirror.


Luisao has made almost 500appearancesfor thePortuguese outfit for whom he has captained and helped lead toa number of titles.

However, it now appears the 35-year-old'stime at the club hascome to an end and he is set for release, allowing him to sign with Championship promotion chasers Wolves.


The Brazilian international was said to have been in London on Monday night in order to discuss a potential dealwith Molineux chairmanSteve Morgan alongside his agent Jorge Mendes.

Following his move to Portugal from Brazilian side Cruzeiro in 2003 for£890k, the defender established him self as a rock in the heart of Benfica's back four.


Since then he had established himself as the club's longest serving captain and as a name to expect on the team sheet week-in, week-out.


However, after making a mere nineappearancesover the course of the lastcampaign, speculation mounted that Luisao was set to leave the club.

And that looks to be the case as he is set to becomethe latest player added to new Wolves boss Walter Zenga's Benficarevolution following in the footsteps offormer Benfica trioHelder Costa, Silvio and Joao Teixeirathis summer.


Wolves fans will hope the incomers will give their side theimpetuousto strive for promotion to the Premier League following adisappointing13th place finish last time out.
