Uruguay striker, Luis Suarez has bemoaned the 2-0 defeat to Portugal but insists his national team teammates must focus on beating Ghana in the next match.

After two matches without a win at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Uruguay now is on the brink of going home early.

Reacting to Uruguay’s defeat to Portugal last Monday, the all-time leading goal scorer said it was very painful.

According to him, Uruguay must only concentrate on a win against Ghana in the final Group H contest.

“All defeats hurt, especially in a World Cup. Now it's time to be together as a group and not look for more excuses. Winning and qualifying, that's our goal. Trust us that we are going to drop everything,” Luis Suarez said in a post on Instagram.

The striker is expected to be in action for Uruguay when they take on Ghana in the final Group H match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Uruguay will need to win that game to stand any chance of advancing to the Round of 16 of the tournament ongoing in Qatar.

The opponent, Ghana only needs a draw to secure qualification to Round 16 of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
