World Cup 2022: Ghanaian defender Gregory Wuthrich named on Switzerland standby list

Ghanaian centre-back Gregory Wuthrich has been named on Switzerland standby list ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The biggest soccer mundial has been scheduled between November and December, where 32 countries will battle it out for the covetous trophy.

On Wednesday, Switzerland boss Murat Yakin unveiled his final 26-man squad for the upcoming tournament, naming the Ghanaian defender on a standby list.

The 27-year-old who joined Austrian Bundesliga club Sturm Graz in 2020 has established himself as key defender in the ongoing campaign, featuring in almost all matches.

Switzerland has been housed in Group G against powerhouse, Brazil, Cameroon, and Serbia.

The European country will face the Black Stars of Ghana on November 17 before the start of the mundial in Qatar.
