World Cup 2022: Ghana’s young squad looks to upset odds to beat Portugal in Group H opener

Ghana’s Black Stars will play their first match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in a game against Portugal today, Thursday, November 24.

Ghana is one of five African countries representing the continent at this year’s tournament.

At the tournament, the Black Stars have the youngest squad with an average age of 24.7.

Despite having the youngest squad, the Black Stars have proved prior to the start of the tournament that something good can be achieved at the tournament.

In a final friendly match before departing for Qatar, the Black Stars beat Switzerland 2-0.

This was after the Swiss had beaten Spain and Portugal.

Now coming against Portugal today, the Ghana team is full of confidence and hopes to fight to upset the odds to record what will be the first win at the world cup by any African country in Qatar.

The match between Ghana and Portugal is scheduled to kick off at 16:00gmt today.
