Former Ghana coach, Kwesi Appiah has said he was left disappointed with Black Stars against Uruguay in the just-ended 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Having suffered a defeat against Portugal in the group opener against Portugal, the Black Stars recorded a hard-fought win against South Korea in their second group game.
The four-time African champions had their destiny in their own hands in their final group game against Uruguay.
The Black Stars needed a draw against the South American side to book a place in the last 16 of the tournament.
However, Ghana's suffered a 2-0 defeat to exit the tournament after finishing at the bottom of Group H with three points.
“Going into the last game against Uruguay, I was very confident that we will sail through. But what we played that day was far from a team that is competitive.
“I am still in contact with most of the players as they are my friends. I was so hurt by our output,” Kwesi Appiah told Standard Gazzette.
Kwesi Appiah is famously remembered for steering the Black Stars to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
