Despite the fact that they were born in separate cities of the same nation, where their parents immigrated as refugees, they chose to represent two different teams.

Inaki, 28, was born in Bilbao, the Basque Country's capital, and played for the Spanish national team's youth. He had a brief appearance in the final with Vicente del Bosque in the build-up to the 2016 Euro, but he did not play.

This did not prevent interaction between the Ghana Football Federation President, the player, and his grandfather! That was essential in his decision to protect Ghana's colors.

Nico, on the other hand, was born 20 years ago in Pamplona, the city to which they relocated so that Inaki could finish his primary school years. The player got Luis Enrique's call and decided to accept the offer to play for Spain, something his older brother had been looking forward to for a long time.

This is not the first time two brothers of Ghanaian descent are playing against each other at the World Cup.

It happened in World Cup in South Africa 2010 and World Cup in Germany 2014 between Kevin-Prince Boateng and Jerome Boateng.

On June 23, 2010, at the World Cup in South Africa, the first meeting of brothers who played for different teams occurred. On one side, Jerome Boateng is wearing the number 20 jersey for the Germans, while on the other, Kevin Prince is wearing the number 23 Ghanaian. On the second date of group D, Bavaria won by a score of 1 to 0.

On June 21, 2014, during the World Cup in Brazil, the Boateng brothers crossed paths once more. Jerome wore the same jersey he wore four years ago at Fortaleza, whereas Kevin moved to number 9.
