Morocco midfielder Sofyan Amrabat still feel hurt after losing to France in the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The Atlas Lios became the first African side to reach the semi-finals of the global showpiece after beating Portugal 1-0 in the quarter-finals.

However, their run ended with a 2-0 defeat to the holders on Wednesday.

"Maybe when we look back, we will realize what we achieved in the tournament, but at the moment I feel bitter, it was especially painful when we were close to getting back in the match," Amrabat said.

"We feel bitter because we couldn't do more in the match. France allowed us to take the initiative from the start, so I thought it was a compliment."

"Unfortunately, it was difficult after conceding a goal early in this way, so we had to play under their control, bearing in mind that they have speeds in the attack line."

He added, "Olivier Giroud was chasing me everywhere in the stadium. He just paused and said he was instructed to follow me throughout the game."
