World Cup 2022: Italian diplomat reacts to Felix Afena-Gyan’s exclusion from Ghana’s final squad

A diplomat at the Italian Embassy in Ghana, Massimiliano Colasuonno Taricone, has reacted to Felix Afena-Gyan’s omission from the Black Stars squad list for the World Cup.

Ghana coach Otto Addo is yet to name his final squad for the biggest soccer mundial to be staged in Qatar but reports in the local media suggest, the Cremonese youngster was unable to break into the squad.

The Cremonese forward was named in the provisional 55 squad that was announced by the Ghana FA last Friday.

Afena-Gyan who made his debut for Ghana in the World Cup playoffs against Nigeria has struggled to find his form this

Since joining Cremonese from Roma, the young striker has made seven appearances, scoring just ones, with his goal coming in the Coppa Italia.

Following reports on his exclusion from the team, the Italian diplomat took to social media to motivate the young player and urged him to keep working hard.

“You have given your contribution to bring the black stars to the world cup, they have decided to take away a dream from you, it's just an hiccup, time is on your side and the best is yet to come”

Meanwhile, Ghana coach Otto Addo is expected to name his final 26-man squad for the mundial on Monday, November 14.
