World Cup 2022: Morocco’s Yassine Bounou sets record to become first African goalie to keep 3 clean sheets in a single tournament

Morocco goalkeeper, Yassine Bounou made history when he kept a clean sheet in the quarter-final match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup against Portugal last week.

In a tough match against the 2016 European Champions, the Spain-based shot-stopper put up a fantastic performance to help his country secure a 1-0 win at the end of the 90 minutes.

That clean sheet was his third at the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament.

As a result, Yassine Bounou has become the first African goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet in three matches in one edition of the FIFA World Cup finals.

He could make it four on Wednesday when he features for Morocco in the top clash against France in the semi-finals of the ongoing tournament in Qatar.

Together with his national team teammates, the highly-rated shot-stopper is poised to give his all once again to try and help Morocco to get to the finals of the mundial.

That encounter between France and Morocco is scheduled to kick off at 19:00GMT at the Education City Stadium.
