The Portugal national team could be affected by another major news at the 2022 FIFA World Cup following confirmation that Manchester United is partying ways with Cristiano Ronaldo.

This evening, the English Premier League club has announced that the club legend is to leave immediately after reaching mutual consent.

“Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect.

“The club thanks him for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wishes him and his family well for the future.

“Everyone at Manchester United remains focused on continuing the team’s progress under Erik ten Hag and working together to deliver success on the pitch,” an official Manchester United statement said on Tuesday evening.

The decision has been taken by the Manchester United board after his explosive interview before the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The big news has come just two days before Portugal takes on Ghana in the opening Group H match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

That game is scheduled to kick off at 16:00gmt on Thursday, November 24.
