South Korea forward Son Heung-min has apologised to the fans following their 3-2 defeat to Ghana at the 2022 World Cup on Monday.

Black Stars took a 2-0 lead courtesy of goals from Mohammed Salisu and Kudus but two stunning headers in three minutes from Cho Gue-sung levelled the game after 61 minutes.

Kudus added a final twist when he thumped in a third for Ghana to break South Korea's hearts.

"The players worked hard, but the result was only like this, I'm sorry, and I'm full of apologies to the fans who supported me," the Tottenham forward said after the game.

"I personally did well, and I should have led the players well, but it hurts my heart that I couldn't do that."

"I think the players will prepare well after seeing the possibility of advancing to the round of 16. I will prepare well with the players."

The defeat leaves South Korea 3rd in Group H and must beat Portugal to stand any chance of progressing to the round of 16.
