Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has heaped praise on the Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku for not interfering in his job.
Otto Addo named his final 26-man squad for the Word Cup on Monday with several players missing out due to injuries or loss form. Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak talismen Ibrahim Danland and Daniel Afriyie Barnieh were included in the final squad.
Richard Ofori, Joe Wollacott were not named in the squad after picking up injuries at their respective clubs, while Crystal Palace midfielder Jeffery Schlupp, in-form Genk forward Joseph Paintsil and Mubarak Wakaso missed out.
"Thank you to the GFA President for allowing me do my work," coach Addo during the announcement of his 26-man squad.
"For me, that's the most important thing. To be able to make decision myself, of course alongside the technical team."
Black Stars of Ghana will commence camping today ahead of the World Cup.
The West African country will pitch camp in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates as coach Otto Addo look to fine tune his squad for the global showpiece which commences on November 20.
While camping in Arab country, Ghana will take on Switzerland in an international friendly before their opening match.
This will be the first time both sides will be meeting. The game will take place on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at the Baniyas Club Stadium in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The match will give coach Otto Addo a perfect opponent for the Group H opener against Portugal at the 974 stadium.
Black Stars have been drawn in Group H alongside Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay.
Ghana will take on Portugal in their first game on November 24 before playing South Korea and Uruguay on November 28 and December 2 respectively.
Black Stars will play Switzerland in an International friendly on November 17, before travelling to Qatar for the World Cup.
Ghana secured a 4th FIFA World Cup tournament having participated in 2006, 2010, and 2014 in Germany, South Africa, and Brazil after drawing 1-1 against Nigeria in the return leg of the final play-offs at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja to seal qualification on the away goals rule.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup takes place between November 21 and December 18, 2022.
Only three sides from the continent have ever progressed to the quarter-finals; Cameroon in 1990, Senegal in 2002, and Ghana in 2010.
