World Cup 2022: The result against Ghana is regrettable - South Korea forward Cho Kyu-seong

South Korea forward Cho Kyu-seong is disappointed his side's failure to at least secure a point Ghana after losing 3-2 in their second group game at the 2022 World Cup.

Black Stars took a 2-0 lead courtesy of goals from Mohammed Salisu and Kudus but two stunning headers in three minutes from Cho Gue-sung levelled the game after 61 minutes.

Kudus added a final twist when he thumped in a third for Ghana to break South Korea's hearts.

"I played hard with the thought of proving it on the world stage today, but it is regrettable that the result is like this," Cho Kyu-seong said after the game.

"It became a game where we lost too quickly in the beginning, but it seems that it was not easy. I knocked on the goal, but it didn't go well. I'm sorry."

"I imagined a goal on the big stage of the World Cup, but I never imagined it would come true," he added.

"However, the result of the game was disappointing. I always think that way every game. It wasn't 'I have to do well in the next game', but I just thought 'I'll do my best in this game and do well in my position'."

"I didn’t think anything of it. It was just as good. I just thought I could do it." I am honored, but I wanted victory rather than two goals. I regret that part."

The defeat leaves South Korea 3rd in Group H and must beat Portugal to stand any chance of progressing to the round of 16.
