World Cup 2022: Thomas Partey was disappointed at the way Ghana exited tournament - Arsenal boss Arteta

Published on: 14 December 2022

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has disclosed that Thomas Partey was sad to see Ghana exit the group stage of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Black Stars lost 2-0 to Uruguay in the final group game at the Al Janoub Stadiu as both teams crashed out of the tournament.

Partey featured in all Ghana games as the Stars finished bottom of Group H with three points.

"He played a lot [at the World Cup] and obviously he was disappointed at the way that he had to leave, but it happens to every nation when they go out, and it takes a few days to reset and start to focus on the team," Arteta told the club's official website.

"The good thing we have is that everyone has been showing that they are desperate to get back, and they want to be ready as quickly as possible and it was great to have those two back today playing some minutes."
