World Cup 2022: We have a quality squad to really impress in Qatar, says Ghana captain Andre Ayew

Ghana captain, Andre Ayew has rubbished the claims that the Black Stars will suffer at the 2022 FIFA World Cup due to the lack of experience in the squad.

Only two of the 26 players invited to the world cup have played at that high level before in the past.

The two are experienced attackers Jordan Ayew and Andre Ayew.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday ahead of the game against Portugal on Wednesday, Andre Ayew has assured that the issue of inexperience will not have any effect on the team.

According to him, he is confident in the quality of the Black Stars squad and believes the team will do well to enjoy success at the tournament being held in Qatar.

“It’s true my brother and I are the only ones in the current Ghana squad to play in the World Cup but it doesn’t mean anything. Cause we also came to play and it was a first at some point and we went able to do good things on the field.

“For me, I believe that the squad we have the quality to really impress and show the world what we are capable of,” Andre Ayew indicated.

The clash between Ghana and Portugal in Group H is scheduled to kick off at 16:00GMT on Thursday, November 24.
