Mavis Acheampong, the spouse of the late Raphael Dwamena, tenderly honoured her husband at his funeral ceremony held on February 16, 2024, by recalling the cherished moments they shared.

Acheampong fondly addressed her late husband, saying, “Rapha, your name continues to resonate in my heart with warmth and harmony. Reflecting on the wonderful years we spent together, I find comfort in the invaluable memories of your laughter, sagacity, and the love that united us.”

In her tribute, she added, “You were more than a husband; you were my closest confidant, mentor, and the embodiment of irreplaceable love. Rapha, my heart still bears the wounds from your sudden departure, yet I’m thankful for the time we shared.”

Expressing gratitude for their time together, Acheampong expressed, “Until we meet again, your memory is my comfort, and your love remains my eternal guide. Rest in peace, my Rapha.”

Dwamena tragically suffered a fatal cardiac arrest during a league match between KF Egnatia and KF Partizani in Albania on November 11, 2023. Despite immediate medical attention, he could not be revived.

Dwamena had been previously diagnosed with heart-related health issues, leading to the installation of a heart monitor in 2017. Nonetheless, he persevered in his football career, ultimately becoming the leading scorer in the Albanian league before his unexpected passing.

As a professional footballer, he participated in nearly 200 matches, achieving a remarkable record of 98 goals and 42 assists at club level. For the Black Stars, he made nine appearances, scoring two goals.
