Young Apostles Chairman Anim Addo has shared his excitement following the team’s historic promotion to the Ghana Premier League.

The Wenchi-based club clinched a spot in the Ghana Premier League ahead of next season after defeating Techiman Heroes FC 4-3 on penalties in a thrilling playoff match at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday.

The two teams won their respective groups in Zone 1 of the Ghana second tier after the regular season, pitting them in a playoff to determine who would secure promotion to top-flight football next season.

The team took the lead in the 8th minute, but Techiman Heroes equalized, sending the match to penalties.

Speaking to the media, the former Executive Council member of the Ghana FA asserted his outfit qualification to the top-flight is a result of hard work, dedication and commitement.

“I’m very proud. It’s a reward for hard work, dedication, commitment and our consistency strategy. We’ve been consistent and our strategy has worked perfectly for us. We built the team from scratch with youthful players and that’s the result you see”

“Those of us who have started football from the grass root and colts, sometimes we use some of the tactics, you need to support your bench. We were communicating with the team, telling them what to do during the game. At a point, our boys were getting tired and we told that it time for them to start looking at their options and it worked for us” he said.

Young Apostles are now the fifth team from the Bono Ahafo region to feature in the league. Other clubs include Nsoatreman FC, Aduana Stars, Berekum Chelsea, and Bechem United.
