Zinedine Zidane Laments Lack of Intensity After Real Madrid Held to Draw By Legia Warsaw

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane was left lamenting his side's lack of intensity after going two goals up against Legia Warsaw in the Champions League on Wednesday, with only a late equaliser enough to spare blushes after the Polish side hadcome from behind to lead.

It looked as though it would be business as usual for Los Blancoswhen Gareth Bale an Karim Benzema gave a very attacking team a 2-0 first half lead. But after three unanswered Legia goals, it was left for Mateo Kovacic to grab a goal five minutes from time to salvage a point.

"It was a tough game because whenever you score two goals away from home, ordinarily it would be a game that you're in control of," Zidane explained in his post-match press conference.

"[Legia's] first goal gave them a route back into the game. We lacked intensity, desire and movement. At times you can have these odd games and we've got to be patient. The good thing is that we didn't lose and we're now focusing on our next game."

The Frenchman was unwilling to pin any blame on the eerie atmosphere in the empty stadium in the Polish capital, devoid of supporters because the game was played behind closed doors.

"That certainly had an influence but it's no excuse," he commented.

"It was a bit of a strange game but we can't change that now. We knew before the game that there wouldn't be any fans in the ground and we had to show high concentration levels. We did that early on but not for the whole game and we had some tough periods."
