FC Zurich head coach Bo Henriksen has explained how he prepared Ghana forward Daniel Afriyie Barnieh for the 2023/24 season.

The 22-year-old former Hearts of Oak player signed for the Swiss Super League side in the winter transfer window after featuring for Ghana’s Black Galaxies at the 2023 Championship of African Nations.

Since joining the club in February, he played only two times for the senior team all under eight minutes and was also sent to play for the junior side on a number of occasions.

Speaking after the game against Lugano on Saturday where Daniel Afriyie Barnieh scored a brace in a 3-0 win, said the Black Stars forward has a lot of potential.

"He arrived with us very late in the winter, and then he had to first get used to life in Europe. He also had to learn what we actually expect from him in football terms. He has a lot of potential," Bo Henriksen said.

Daniel Afriyie has started all the three Super League games Zurich has played.
