Arsenal striker Joel Campbell has been hit by a heavy knee injury.

Campbell, 25, was on international duty with Costa Rica when he picked up the knock to his knee against Canada that will require surgery.

The former Saprissa star now looks set for a spell on the sidelines and may be out for four to six months, says The Sun.

Campbell said: “We will see what the doctors say, but it is a pretty big tear and I will have to undergo an operation."

Campbell will now miss the rest of Costa Rica's Gold Cup campaign and also throws his club career into doubt.

The Gunners have had Campbell out on numerous loan deals but this new injury could see his chances of moving again scuppered.
