Ashantigold Coach C K Akunor insists team must work harder to avoid relegation

Ashantigold coach Charles Kwabena Akunor says they will have to double their efforts in order to avoid relegation.

The miners have struggled this season, lying 15th on the table after 18 games however, C. K Akunor who replaced former Coach, Bashiru Hayford seemed to have found a working formular for the Obuasi based club.

The former Black Stars captain who joined from Dreams FC began the second round on a positive note, picking 7 out of 9 points.

However, C.K Akunor indicated they have to remain consistent and put in extra efforts to survive.

"The team must improve to be able to work hard and avoid relegation. They must work harder in subsequent matches to continue our charge to avoid relegation," Akonnor told Graphic Sports.

"Any team that need results must have continuity; that is to say they must be clinical in every match to avoid heartbreaks,” he added.

Ashantigold will seek to continue on their decent run of form when they host Inter Allies in Obuasi next week.

The Ghana Premier League is on a week break with the FA Cup set to take place this weekend.
