Butland delighted with Johnson Stoke deal

Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland is delighted with Glen Johnson's new deal.

Johnson, who commutes from London, was being hotly pursued by West Ham and Crystal Palace as he neared the end of his contract. But the 32-year-old was persuaded this week to sign a one-year extension to stay at the bet365 Stadium.

"It's massive," said Butland to The Sentinel, "not just as a player on the pitch but around the group he's got a huge amount of experience and it's great for younger players to learn from someone like that who has done what he's done in the game.

"It's really important that he's signed. He's been a great player for us and he offers us that experience and flair going forward that we need. To have him for another year is really positive and I'm looking forward to seeing what we can do as a side next year."
