Executive committee member of the Ghana Football Association George Afriyie has dismissed assertions by Minister of Youth and Sports, Nii Lante Vanderpuye that the Ghana Premier League (GPL) is not attractive due to a lack of title sponsor.

Nii Lante Vanderpuye was reported to have stated on Asempa FM, a radio station based in Accra that the organizers of the Ghana Premier League are failing to win a recognized title sponsor for the league because of its repulsiveness.

However, vice President of the Ghana Football Association, George Afriyie was not impressed the Minister’s comments as he feels it’s about the minister keep mute amid growing concerns over his outspoken manner towards the GFA and the organizers of the GPL.

Speaking to Happy FM, George Afriyie asked, “If the Premier League is not attractive then why are so people putting their money in? If the league is not that attractive as the minister is saying, then how can a Chief like Dormaa, Nana Agyemang Badu invest so much in Aduana stars?”

He continued, “I think it’s time Nii Lante put a stop to all these utterances. He always has something to when indeed there’s none. I think if he has a suggestion or not feeling the way things are being run, he should have approached us to find an amicable solution on how best we can organize what he termed as unattractive league than making everything loud in public.”

“If by what he is saying is true, does it mean the season when Hearts of Oak won the league for six consecutive times, the league wasn’t appealing?. If you’re a Minister and you go overboard with every little thing which in my opinion is solvable and has no fuss, then you need to be questioned.”
