President of the Ghana Football Association Kwesi Nyantakyi says the country is proud of the Black Starlets and has asked them to know that they have Ghana a great honour.

The Black Starlets returned home from Gabon with silver medals after losing in the finals to Mali who were the defending champions.

Ghana were able to pick one of the tickets to the world cup in India after a decade of absence and the FA president commended the boys for such a remarkable feat.

“We are very proud of your achievement. Don’t think that because we didn’t win gold, we are dissatisfied with your performance. We are very happy.

“This is the first time in 10 years that we have played at this level and this is a big testimony to the level of development of youth football in our country. Hold yourselves and count yourselves as very proud Ghanaians who have done this nation a great honour,” he told the team on arrival in Accra.

The team touched down on Tuesday and have already started putting in place plans for the world cup in India, this October.
