John Antwi's El-Maqassa drawn against Senegalese side Génération Foot in CAF champions League preliminary round

On-loan Al-Ahly striker, John Antwi who plays for El-Maqassa, the runners up in the Egyptian League last season have been draw with Senegalese side Génération Foot for the preliminary round of game in the Champions League. 

The striker who has been prolific for the side will see his side travel to Senegal for the first leg on the weekend of 9-11 February before hosting Generation Foot in the second leg on the weekend of 16-18 February.

Misr El-Maqassa will be making their first appearance in the Champions League and the club will expect to emulate the success of other Egyptian clubs in the competition.

If El-Maqassa manged to overcome the Senegalese side, they will face either Guinea’s Horoya or AS FAN of Niger in the round of 32.

Meanwhile, John Antwi's parent club Al-Ahly, even times champions of the competition will be up against the winner between Gabonese side CF Mounana and Burkina Faso’s Rail Club du Kadiogo in the round of 32.

However, Maqassa’s President Mohamed Abdel-Salam is keen on signing Antwi on a permanent deal as he has assured the fans that the Ghanaian goal machine will remain at the Fayoum Stadium.

“Antwi’s contract is a loan contract with an option to buy and we are going to activate this option.”
