Manchester United manager Jose Mourinhois reportedly keen to bring Atletico Madrid and France forward Antoine Griezmann to Old Trafford next summer.

According to the Express, the former Chelsea and Real Madrid coach is already looking ahead to next season despite enjoying a successful summer on the transfer front, signing Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba.

United have been heavily backed to be crowned Premier League champions this year thanks to theirimpressive recruitment, and are now being linked with a move for Atletico striker Griezmann, who enjoyed a majorly successful 2015/16 La Liga season, scoring 22 goals in 38 appearances.

Griezmann, 26, could act as a long-term replacement for United captain Wayne Rooney, who earlier this week announced that the 2018 World Cup in Russia would be his last international involvement with England. He hasn't made any comments regarding his United future recently, however, but Mourinho is reportedly keen to offer the former Everton striker a new deal.

Griezmann was linked with Manchester United's Premier League rivals Chelsea over the summer, but instead signed a new contract at Atletico to put a stop to all the transfer rumours. United's hierarchy have backed Mourinho in his first transfer window at the club, however, and could pursue the signing in future windowsregardless of Griezmann's contract extension at Atletico.

Mourinho also expects Griezmann to push for the transfer should United submit a bid for the former Real Sociedad striker. He's been at Atletico since 2014, scoring 57 goals in all competition during 107 appearances for the Spanish giants.
