Lack of unity is the main problem with Kotoko- Ex Boss Opoku Nti

Former Kotoko general manager Opoku Nti has revealed that the club’s growing troubles can be laid down to disunity among the stakeholders involved with the porcupine warriors.

Kumasi Asante Kotoko lost their fourth game of the season on Saturday to Accra Great Olympics and have now gone seven games without a win in the Ghana Premier League.

The Porcupine Warriors began the season brightly under Croatian Coach Zdravko Lugarisic but had to let him go amidst growing agitations from fans who taught his tactics didn’t conform to Kotoko’s philosophy.

Opokou Nti who guided Kotoko to two premier League trophies and an FA Cup is frustrated with the turn of events at the club insisting the deep rooted problem of the club has been disunity and that has affected them spiritually.

“I am frustrated because things aren’t going well with Kotoko, things aren’t happening,” a frustrated Nti told Happy FM.

Asked about what he feels are the problems of the club, the one-time player of the club says the team has a strong spiritual backing but without unity everything falls apart

“I think there are a lot of factors affecting the club. Spiritually, if there is no peace and unity among the stakeholders of kotoko, it affects our game,”

“A lot of times you see fans of the club rejecting some decisions, agitating vigorously to some issues openly on radio and TV,”

“Issues that can be addressed in the boardroom, you have people talking about it openly. Kotoko is a big club that when we have problems we should be able to address them amicably rather wash our dirty linen in public,”

“If there is no peace even amongst the high ranks, it affects our play drastically, and you can see that now.”

He however insists leadership should call an emergency meeting to resolve matters as fast as possible.

“I think leadership should call for a meeting, get all the stakeholders involved so they can jaw jaw to see the way forward for the club,” he said.

“Any nation that fights among themselves won’t stand. Divide we fall, united we stand. Unity is paramount now.”
