Leicester Midfielder Andy King Extends Foxes Contract to 2020 With New Long-Term Deal

Published on: 28 July 2016

Leicester City midfielder Andy King has committed his long-term future to the club after signing a new four-year contract that will keep him at the King Power Stadium until 2020.

The Foxes proudly announced the news on Friday afternoon, with the deal set to take King past his 30th birthday and extend his stay at Leicester to 16 years by the time it expires at the start of the next decade.

King first joined the club in 2004 after leaving Chelsea when he was released as a 15-year-old.

He is the only surviving member of the Leicester squad that played in and subsequently won League One back in 2008/09 and continued to be an important member of the side that later stabilised in the Championship and eventually earned promotion back to the Premier League in 2014.

King wasn't a regular starter as the Foxes managed the most unlikely of title wins last season, although he still appeared in 25 games and provided vital back-up and support in central midfield over the course of the long campaign.

As a Welsh international, he was part of the Wales squad that stunned Europe at the recent Euro 2016 tournament in France, reaching the semi-finals before succumbing to the challenge of Portugal.
