Black Stars "B" coach, Maxwell Konadu has called on the players of Asante Kotoko to forget about the past and focus as they prepare for Sunday’s CAF Confederations Cup match at home to Congolese side, Club Athlétique Renaissance Aiglon (CARA).

The Porcupine Warriors will host the Congolese club at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday in the preliminary round of the competition.

Konadu, an ex-Kotoko player and coach, told Kumasi based Oyereba FM that, the players ought to fully concentrate on the game to win.

“Matches of this nature starts from the training grounds. With good preparations, they can make us smile. They should make sure to rewrite history because the feat Kotoko achieved against this team is passed.

"The past glories achieved by others shouldn’t get into their heads; it’s past and gone.

“This a new era and it’s very different with a new generation so they should be cautious.

The former Wa All Stars trainer who guided Kotoko to their Ghana Premier League title in the 2011/12 season, also bemoaned the lack of “top notch” friendly international matches for the team as well as the delay in the start of the Ghana Premier League.

“To some extent, I agree with those who assert that failure to play league matches will affect our teams especially match fitness and the failure to play top-notch friendlies in place of the league. Looking at what’s happening in our league, you can’t rely on it…” he said.
