Zidane and Pogba Share Phone Call in Last Ditch Attempt to Have Player Land Dream Madrid Move

Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba is said to have shared a 'desperate' phone call with Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane in a last-ditch attempt to scupper the player's return to Manchester United and land him at the Bernabeu.

That's according to El Confidencial, who claim that there's not much either party could do about it.

It states: "A last desperate telephone call¦with each man seemingly wanting the player to end up at Madrid, and urging the other to do what they can to help that happen."

It is understood that Zidane, who also represented Juventus in his playing days, wants the 23-year-old to be part of his squad next season, while Pogba is known to favour a move to Madrid rather than moving back to Old Trafford.

But the Madrid manager is finding out that he has very little control over transfers, with president Florentino Perez pulling the strings at the club.

Meanwhile, Mino Raiola - the player's agent has said that he is not interested in setting a transfer record by arranging a deal for Pogba to join United.

Speaking in an interview with Il Corriere dello Sport, Raiola said: "I'm not interested about my public image because there are always going to be people in the world who love you and people who hate you for what you say and do. My indicators are my family and my players, who I treat like my children. They appreciate it.

"I'm not in the world to be liked by people but to do what is right. I am at the service of my players and I give everything to them, 150 percent of myself. I'm proud of myself when I do well for them.

"I'm not interested neither in the sacrifices I must take, nor in the money. That doesn't matter. For me, the quality of work and the results obtained is important.

"I don't care about setting record transfers. The newspapers write that Pogba can set a new record, but I've already set records with [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic and [Pavel] Nedved. I want the best for my footballers, and that therefore means also for Pogba."
