13th African Games: Black Princesses show resilience to come from behind to beat Tanzania 2-1

The Ghana U20 Women's national team came from behind to beat the Tanzania U20 Women's national team 2-0 on Tuesday night.

Nicknamed the Black Princesses, the Ghana U20 women's national team locked horns with their Tanzanian counterpart today in their second group game of the women's football tournament of the ongoing 13th Olympic Games.

Just 23 minutes in the contest played at the Cape Coast Stadium, Tanzania scored through Hasnath Ubamba to take the lead.

Despite the setback, the Black Princesses did not give up and kept their heads in the game.

Late in injury time of the first half, a Tracey Twum wonderful strike restored parity to the game before the break.

In the pulsating contest that ensued in the second half, talented forward Mukarama Abdulai scored in the 64th minute to give Ghana the lead.

With the Black Princesses defending their lead and controlling the contest, the team cruised to 2-1 win at the end of the 90 minutes.

The win means the Ghana U20 women’s national team has qualified to the knockout stage of the football tournament at the 13th African Games.
