20/21 CAF Confederations Cup: Ashgold face Salitas FC today – Preview

Ghanaian giant, Obuasi Ashanti Gold SC is set to host Salitas FC this afternoon in the first meeting of a two-legged tie in the preliminary stage of the 2020/2021 CAF Confederations Cup.

Nicknamed the Miners, the club flattered to deceive in the 2019/2020 edition of the continental inter-club competition where they bowed out in the early stages.

Set to represent Ghana in the competition once again this season, Ashanti Gold SC is keen on enjoying success to hoist the flag of the country high while selling the club to the rest of the continent and the world at large.

To do that though, the club is faced with stern competition from Burkina Faso side Salitas FC.

The club is determined to progress to the next stage of the competition and expected to give the Obuasi-based side a good run for their money.

Ahead of the tie, Ashanti Gold SC goes into the match without a win in two games in the Ghana Premier League.

In those games, they have managed to score 4 goals and will hope they find the back of the net on a number of occasions today too to have the chance of winning.

For the opponent, Salitas FC come into the game with two wins from the last 5 matches, one of which the team scored four unanswered goals.

They are tough opposition and expected to battle it out to the end with Ashanti Gold.
