20/21 Ghana Premier League matchday 23: Hearts of Oak defeat King Faisal 2-0 after exciting contest

Published on: 09 May 2021

Hearts of Oak have defeated King Faisal 2-0 to stay in the race to win the Ghana Premier League title at the end of the 2020/2021 football season.

The Phobians after a 2-0 defeat to Dreams FC last weekend saw their hopes of winning the league title suffer a setback.

Determined to immediately return to winning ways, Hearts of Oak head coach Samuel Boadu named a strong starting eleven this evening when his outfit hosted King Faisal at the Accra Sports Stadium.

With both teams displaying good form in the first half, neither side could score and as a result had to settle for a draw at the break.

In a second half where Hearts of Oak played far better than the opponent, goals Kwadwo Obeng Jnr and Daniel Afriyieh Barnieh have inspired the capital-based side to an important 2-0 win.

Courtesy of the victory, the Rainbow club has reclaimed the fourth spot on the Ghana Premier League table and just four points behind leaders Asante Kotoko.
