2019/2020 GPL Match Week 2: Medeama SC 3-0 Hearts of Oak – Phobians suffer second consecutive defeat

Ghana Premier League giant Accra Hearts of Oak has suffered its second consecutive defeat of the season after losing to Medeama SC on Sunday afternoon.

The Phobians started off their campaign in the top-flight competition last weekend when they were pipped by a goal to nil by Berekum Chelsea at the Accra Sports Stadium.

In a Match Week 2 fixture at the Akoon Community Park in Tarkwa today, Medeama SC displayed their home supremacy and posted an emphatic 3-0 win over the Rainbow lads.

A penalty kick converted by Prince Opoku Agyemang on the 3rd minute handed the Yellow and Mauves the lead. Later in the second half, the attacker found the back of the net to bag his brace, handing his team a two-goal cushion over their guest to take into the first half break.

In the second half, it was more of the same as the home team continued their dominance. A little after the half-hour mark, substitute Nana Kofi Babil scored after he was assisted by Agyei Boakye.

All efforts by Hearts of Oak to get back into the match proved futile as Medeama SC eventually cruised to a 3-0 win.

This is the second win for Medeama and the second loss for the Hearts.
