2021 African Cup of Nations qualifiers: Kotoko defender Christopher Nettey handed late call up for Sudan encounter

Asante Kotoko defender Christopher Nettey has been handed a late call up by CK Akonnor ahead of Black Stars 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sudan.

The 22-year-old will replace Columbus Crew defender Harrison Afful who can't make a trip to Ghana for the crunchy encounter.

Nettey becomes the latest player to receive a call-up after Prince Adu Kwabena, Majeed Ashimeru, Joseph Attamah Larweh and Afriyie Acquah.

Ghana will be battling out with Sudan in the first leg tie at the Cape Coast Stadium on November 12 and travel to face them in Omdurman after five days.

Nettey had an incredible season with Asante Kotoko last term after joining them from lower-tier side Attram De Visser Academy for $35,000.

Akonnor will be hoping to start on a good note as the head coach of the Black Stars.
