Berekum Chelsea defender Yaw Darkwah has tipped FC Samartex as favourites to win the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League title.
Despite suffering a recent 1-0 setback against RTU, Samartex maintains its position at the top of the league, showcasing an admirable tally of 52 points from 29 matches.
Darkwah acknowledges the daunting challenge of overtaking Samartex, underscoring their strong home record and substantial points lead.
He suggests that while other teams may find it challenging to secure the title, Samartex's consistent performance cements their status as formidable contenders.
I won’t say they’ve already won the league but they can clinch it. It’s not easy to beat a team at their home in this league and there are certain teams it’s difficult to even pick a point in their backyard and Samartex is one of those teams.
“When you look at their points accumulation, it’s very high and it’s not easy to beat them at Samreboi. With the games left and them also having some home games, it’s not easy to overtake them but anything is possible, it’s a league ofcourse but I don’t see any team overtaking them at this point.”
