2022/23 Ghana Premier League: Karela United coach Shaibu Tanko confident of avoiding relegation

Karela United head coach, Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko, has revealed his plans to help his team avoid relegation from the Ghana Premier League this season.

With just one point above the relegation zone, Karela's fate in the league hangs in the balance.

In an interview with StarTimes after his team's goalless draw with Dreams FC at the Theatre of Dreams on Saturday, Tanko expressed confidence that his team will remain in the top flight competition.

Tanko explained his team will aim to win their home matches and manage their away matches just as they did against Dreams FC. He acknowledged Dreams is a formidable team but his team was able to hold them.

Tanko noted that his team needs to get used to playing on grass pitches.

“Definitely we are winning our home matches as for that and our away matches we will manage just like we did here today. Because Dreams is a formidable team but we managed to hold them.

“I’ve noticed that my boys are finding it difficult to play on the grass because we are always playing and training on the Astro turf so I think we will work at that and in our subsequent matches I think there will be some changes,” he added.

Karela United's next game will be at home against Nsoatreman on March 12, 2023. Karela will hope to secure a vital win in that match to improve their chances of avoiding relegation.
