2022/23 Ghana Premier League Week 22: Medeama SC v Great Olympics preview

Published on: 17 March 2023

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that the Ghana Premier League will continue this weekend.

This is regardless of the fact that Black Stars great, Christian Atsu’s funeral and thanksgiving service has taken place this weekend.

As confirmed by the football governing body, all nine matches for Week 22 will come off as planned.

On Sunday, one of the multiple games that will be played will be the contest between Medeama SC and Great Olympics.

Form Guide:

The host team after struggling early on in the season has managed to pick up and gradually push to break into the top four.

Currently, Medeama SC are sixth on the Ghana Premier League standings after picking 31 points from 21 games.

In the last five matches of the team, the Yellow and Mauve outfit has won two, drawn two, and lost the other game.

Set to come up against Great Olympics, Medeama SC targets the maximum three points to inch closer to making the top four.

The opponent, the team from Accra have been very inconsistent this season. After 21 games this season, Great Olympics are 12th on the league table and has 27 points.

The last five matches of the team have seen the side losing three, drawing one, and winning the other one.

It is just enough to show how poor the noisy self-acclaimed Accra landlords have been all season.

Predicted scoreline:

The only thing that perhaps could save Great Olympics from a defeat is the fact that the team is known for performing when it comes to big games.

However, taking into consideration form and home advantage, Medeama SC go into this weekend’s clash as the favourites.
