Ghana striker Jordan Ayew has tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of the first leg meeting against Nigeria in the qualifiers to the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament.

Nicknamed the Black Stars, the national team of Ghana will take on the Super Eagles later this month in the final round of the African qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup scheduled to be staged in Qatar.

Ahead of the crucial two-legged encounter, Ghana is hoping to have a strong squad to increase its chances of success against the star-studded opponent.

Today, there appears to have been a health setback. This is because the information gathered from England indicates that striker Jordan Ayew has tested positive for Covid-19.

As a result, he was not in the Crystal Palace matchday squad for the FA Cup meeting against Everton this afternoon.

It is unclear if he will recover in time to report to camp for Ghana’s first-leg meeting against Nigeria in the playoff of the qualifiers to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

That game is scheduled to be played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on March 29, 2022.
