Ghana coach Otto Addo will release his provisional squad for the 2022 World Cup today 21st of October according to reports in the local media.

The number of players in the provisional squad will likely be between 35 and 55. Most of the players who featured in Ghana's two international friendly games against Brazil and Nicaragua will be in the provisional squad.

This provisional squad will be trimmed down to 26 ahead of the official kick-off of the Mundial.

FIFA has increased the maximum squad size for the November 20 – December 18 competition by three, allowing countries to choose up to 26 players for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The decision to increase squad sizes was decided, according to the organisation that governs world football, "given the necessity to preserve greater flexibility owing to the peculiar timing" of this year's competition, which will break the club season.

The Ghana FA will immediately submit the provisional squad to FIFA after it has been made public.
