2022 World Cup: Sports Minister Ussif Mustapha details Black Stars’ estimated budget of $14.1 million for tournament

Ghana’s Sports Minister Ussif Mustapha has finally revealed budget for the Black Stars 2022 World Cup campaign.

The Black Stars is returning to the global showpiece after missing out in Russia 2018, where France emerged as winners.

Ghana has been housed in Group H at the mundial against Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.

The Black Stars will open their World Cup account against Portugal on November 24 before taking on Uruguay and South Korea respectively.

The biggest soccer mundial has been scheduled for November and December this year, with 32 countries set to battle it out for the covetous trophy in Qatar.

Speaking on the floor of parliament, the Sports Minster revealed that Ghana government has budgeted $14.1 million for the Black Stars World Cup campaign in the Asian country.

At group stage, the Black Stars appearance fee will cost an estimated $8, 166, 200 from the entire budget for the mundial.

Ghana are expected to spend about $626, 400 should the four-time African champions progress to the knockout stage of the competition.

At the quarterfinals, the team will spend $719,600, taking Ghana’s entire spending to $9, 512, 2000 but if the team is able to reach the semifinals, the expenditure will rise to $14, 184, 100.
