2022 World Cup: Striker Dauda Mohammed shockingly included in Ghana’s provisional squad for tournament

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has finally made public the provisional squad named by Black Stars head coach Otto Addo ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

One of the surprise inclusions in the squad of 55 players submitted to FIFA is former Asante Kotoko striker Dauda Mohammed.

The striker all season has made 10 appearances for CD Tenerife in the Spanish Segunda.

In the 10 games he has played, the former RSC Anderlecht forward has only managed to score one goal and has no assists.

Shockingly, players like Kwabena Owusu and Bernard Tekpetey who boast of better numbers have been rejected.

This season, Kwabena Owusu who plays for Qarabag in the Azerbaijani Premier League has scored six goals after making 16 appearances in both the league and the Europa League.

Bernard Tekpetey on the other hand has been the key man for Bulgarian giants Ludogorets.

He already has seven goals and three assists after making 13 league appearances.

For reasons only known to coach Otto Addo and his technical team, the two in-form attackers have been overlooked in the provisional squad while Dauda Mohammed has been given a slot.

At the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Ghana has been pitted in Group H where the Black Stars will face their counterpart from Portugal, Uruguay, and South Korea.
