Former Black Stars head coach, Charles Kwabla Akonnor, believes his former team Dreams FC have exceeded expectations with their exploits in the 2023/24 CAF Confederation Cup.

The team, dubbed the Still Believe boys, has surpassed expectations by edging closer to securing a spot in the semifinals of the tournament, marking their debut in a CAF inter-club competition.

Dreams FC, holders of the Ghana FA Cup, currently hold a significant 2-1 lead from the first leg of the quarterfinals against Malian side Stade Malien.

Their unexpected triumph away at the Stade du Mars in Bamako last Sunday has positioned them favorably for the return leg, scheduled for this coming Sunday at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

Charles Kwabla Akonnor, speaking in anticipation of the crucial upcoming match, lauded the team’s cohesive gameplay, highlighting the synergy exhibited by the players since the preliminary stages of the tournament.

“I believe the players have demonstrated some soundness in their play, as well as some understanding among themselves, which is critical, so they have gone above and beyond what one could expect,” he told Akoma FM.
