2023/24 Ghana Premier League: Week 20 Match Preview – Aduana Stars vs Legon Cities

Published on: 09 March 2024

Aduana Stars returns to action this weekend to face Legon Cities in the Ghana Premier League matchday 20.

The two-time Premier League winners were not in action last weekend due to the unavailability of their opponent, Medeama following their participation in the CAF Champions League campaign.

The Yellow and Mauves were out of the country for their final group game against CR Belouizdad, where they succumbed to a 3-0 defeat.

Aduana Stars, now, returns to the action to face Legon Cities at the Nan Agyemang Badu Park and will be seeking for maximum points.

The Dormaa-based club had a dismal start to the second round of the Premier League campaign last month following their 2-1 defeat to Samartex on home turf. However, the fire boys will be hoping to bounce back from their defeat when they take on Legon Cities on Sunday.

It promised to be a thrilling encounter as both teams will be yearning for maximum points at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park. Referee, Benjamin Kwame Sefah has been appointed to handle the much-anticipated encounter.

This fixture is anticipated to be a tough challenge for Aduana Stars, as Legon Cities will be yearning for redemption following an unimpressive start to the second round.

The Royals are winless after two games into the second half of the campaign, losing one and drawing one in the process.

Legon Cities suffered a 2-0 away defeat to Karela United last month before playing out a 0-0 draw against city rivals, Accra Lions last weekend.

Aduana Stars will be hoping for a win, but must be mindful of Legon Cities threat ahead of the crucial clash.

The two-time league winners cannot afford to drop points as the battle for the title intensifies. They are currently third on the standings with 30 points, trailing log leaders, Samartex by five points.

Legon Cities are eleventh on the Premier League standings with 25 points after 19 matches so far this season.
